Jean Ellen (Gay) Meyer, age 83, of White Creek, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, August 17, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Meyer was baptized into the Christian faith as a child in Surprise, Indiana, and confirmed in faith on March 22, 1959, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek. Jean was deeply faithful and actively engaged in St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek. She was a committed member of the Ladies Aid, attended Bible Study regularly, and made significant contributions to the church’s landscaping.

Jean dedicated many years of her career to Columbus Regional Hospital as a registered nurse before retiring.

Family was of utmost importance to Jean. Jean was a cherished wife, a nurturing mother, a proud grandmother, and a beloved great-grandmother. She had a profound love for her family and especially valued the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed the adventures she shared with her husband while traveling. Over the years, her home was a cherished place for the family, where her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would play outside and feed the fish in her pond. Jean’s unending love and devotion to her family and friends will be forever cherished, and her legacy of kindness will continue in the hearts and minds of the lives she touched.

Gardening was a passion for Jean. Her beautifully maintained flower beds were a testament to her green thumb, and she always loved sharing her flowers with her family and friends. Jean’s other joys in life included collecting antiques and quilting.

Born on December 10, 1940, in Jackson County, Jean was the loving daughter of George and Avis (Anderson) Gay, both of whom preceded her in death. On October 26, 1958, at Surprise Christian Church, she married Lloyd David Meyer, and he survives in White Creek.

Survivors also include two sons: Gregory Allen (Jane) Meyer of Columbus, and Bill (Angi) Meyer of Columbus; one daughter, Sandra (Joseph) Franke of Seymour; one brother, John (Peggy) Gay of Seymour; one sister, Nancy Lucas of Seymour; nine grandchildren: John (Michelle) Meyer, Dawn (Justin) Schneider, Patrick (Allison) Meyer, Nick Meyer, Matt Meyer, Jada Meyer, Alexander (Heather) Franke, Emma (Nick) Imhoff, Anne (Eli) Beard; and eight great-grandchildren: Ann Meyer, Sophia Meyer, Harry Schneider, Maris Schneider, William Franke, Elta Franke, Emilie Franke, and Meyer Imhoff.

Besides her parents, Jean was also preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill and Norma Gay, Tom and Lena Gay, and George “Bud” and Shirley Gay; and brother-in-law, Russell Lucas.

Funeral services for Jean Ellen (Gay) Meyer will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek, with Pastor Jim Haugen officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek.

Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek Foundation.
