Columbus East junior forward Sam Newell shot three goals after a scoreless game to propel the Olympians to victory against Floyd Central at the Richard Wigh Soccer Center. East out-shot the Highlanders 9-6.

Cummins Engine Co. hosted the National Turbo Diesel Register Rally, with more than 750 Dodge Ram fans and 400 pickup trucks in attendance. Cummins was the exclusive supplier for all of Daimler-Chrysler’s Dodge Ram models.

Bill Staples Jr. won the Columbus City Men’s Golf Tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course with a 142, ending the four-year reign of Steve Seibel. Staples finished five shots ahead of Seibel, who shot a 147.
