Leeta Alline Gibson

Leeta Alline (Greer) Gibson, 92, of North Vernon, passed away peacefully at Keepsake Village of Columbus on Friday August 16, 2024.

Born on August 3, 1932 in Jamestown, Tennessee, Leeta was the daughter of Ira Allen and Tassie Alma (Upchurch) Greer. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.

Leeta was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Joe Bert Gibson, her mother and father, brother Ira Allen (Junior) Greer, brother JB Greer, sister Edith (Greer) Webb, brother Sammie Greer, and brother Roger Greer. She is survived by her daughter Sheila (Gibson) Gibson and her husband Mark, bonus family Frank and Carolyn King and grandson Brentt King.

She was a farm wife and beautician, managing Alline’s Beauty Shop and Tall Tree Limousine Farm. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, embroidery, reading, gardening, travel and her pet cats and dogs. She was a people person and loved to interact, telling stories and people enjoyed her company. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church of North Vernon.

The family would like to acknowledge the care and affection she received from the staff at Keepsake Village of Columbus.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Brother Ricky Persons will officiate. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024 as well as 11:00 until the time of service on Friday.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the Organization of the Donor’s choice.
