2014

Members of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, Columbus Police Department and Columbus Fire Department formed an underwater dive squad to search for Federica Lyford-Pike’s lost engagement ring near a dock at Harrison Lake. The ring was found under several inches of silt and returned to Lyford-Pike in time for her Sept. 13 wedding.

1999

Wheels of Faith, the Columbus chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, hosted the Indiana State CMA Rally at Ceraland, with about 150 motorcyclists in attendance. After the rally, the association delivered school supplies to the local Salvation Army.

1974

Columbus resident Mark Rediker won two ribbons at the Indiana State Fair, with a second place ribbon in the Weather Division One competition and a first place ribbon in the Forestry Division One contest. Other Columbus winners were Tony Carr with a blue ribbon in Forestry Division Four, and Kim Burbrink with a red ribbon in Forestry Division Two.
