JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff deputies, assisted by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a North Vernon suspect in the early morning hours of Thursday after a driver led them on a high-speed pursuit with speeds reaching nearly 100 mph.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Jennings County Deputy Michael Watts initiated a traffic stop on a newer model Chevrolet Malibu at the intersection of County Road 150N and Kipper Lane. As Watts exited his vehicle, the driver of the Malibu fled northbound on Kipper Lane, leading to a high-speed pursuit on county roads with speeds reaching nearly 100 mph.
The pursuit eventually entered Country Squire Lakes, where the vehicle came to a stop on Locustwood Drive, deputies said. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Jason Duncan of North Vernon, fled on foot, while the female passenger was quickly detained at the scene. The female was later released from the scene.
