Columbus’ Big JT’s Smokin’ BBQ won the grand champion title at the 13th annual Madison Ribberfest Indiana State Championship Cookoff in Madison. The team, comprised of Jimmy Tindell and Kempis Wilkerson, was only the second Indiana team to win the event.

Cyndy Finke, a senior at Hauser High School in Hope, was named Indiana State Fair Dairy Princess, and Sharon Downey, a 1973 Hauser graduate, was first runner-up. The two competed against four other girls for the title.
