Bull Dogs blank Castle, Elkhart

GREENWOOD — Columbus North pulled out a pair of shutout wins on Saturday, beating Castle and Elkhart by 1-0 scores.

Despite being a man down for the final 30 minutes because of a red card, the Bull Dogs scored their goal against Castle in the 65th minute when Leo Iorio headed in a pass from Konnor Gribbins. Both teams finished with seven shots, with the Knights putting four on goal to two for North. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon and Noah Marsh each played a half in goal, and both recorded two saves.

The Bull Dogs (3-1) did not wait nearly as long to strike against Elkhart. Parker Gribbins scored off an assist from Jonny Renteria in the third minute. North outshot the Lions 11-4, with Salcedo Calderon and Marsh each posting two saves.
