Jet boys take second, Trinity 24th, CC 28th in invitational

SHELBYVILLE — The Hauser boys cross-country team finished second in Saturday’s Jeremy Wright Invitational at Blue River Park.

Cascade won the meet with 89 points to 166 for the Jets and 183 for Hagerstown. Trinity Lutheran finished 24th with 568, and Columbus Christian was 28th with 725.

Nolan Dailey led the Jets with a fourth-place finish in 17 minutes, 27.83 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Adrean Tungate took 18th in 18:45.22, while Koleson Gernentz was 32nd (19:13.82), Mason Moore 56th (19:59.25) and Max Moore 60th (20:06.48).

Oliver Eggersman finished 63rd in 20:13.67 to lead Trinity. Nathan Negrete took 83rd in 21:00.61, while Rylan Adair was 153rd (23:17.34), Braxton Sinclair 185th (25:10.36) and Stephen Trager 186th (25:17.46).

Ben Halsey led Columbus Christian with a 132nd-place finish in 22:29.93. Justin Schlaudroff took 155th in 23:25.75, while Trae Short was 184th (25:07.69), Roman Sanchez 213th (27:46.17) and Maddyn Fleeharty 222nd (29:06.89).

Edinburgh’s Julian Romero-Espino finished 228th in 29:19.78.

In the girls race, Trinity’s Cheyenne Campbell finished 47th in 25:27.29. Elizabeth Downey took 64th in 26:57.73, and Emma Mellencamp was 122nd in 33:54.74.

Columbus Christian’s Elizabeth Schlaudroff finished 103rd in 30:32.44. Edinburgh’s Emilee Cox was 139th in 41:15.86.
