Panther boys take sixth, East eighth at Brown County

NASHVILLE — Jennings County finished sixth, and Columbus East took eighth in the boys meet in Saturday’s Brown County Harrier Invitational.

Bloomington North won the boys meet with 22 points. Jennings finished with 156, East scored 242 and Brown County took 11th with 310.

Bishop Chatard edged Bloomington South 55-58 to win the girls meet. East finished 10th with 286 points, and Brown County was 11th with 314. The Jennings girls did not compete.

Jennings’ Kraedyn Young finished second in the boys meet in 15 minutes, 53.6 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Brock Maschino took 36th in 18:13.2, while Zachary Wahlman was 43rd (18:21.8), Dawson Leak 46th (18:25.8) and Cash Summers 47th (18:26.1).

Norman Dickson led East with a 35th-place finish in 18:12.4. Elijah Clore took 55th in 18:39.9, while Austin Menefee was 66th (19:10.8), Lorren Westerfeld 70th (19:17.1) and Maddox Hult 94th (19:58.2).

Kai Koester finished 75th in 19:22.4 to lead Brown County. Aden Skaggs took 77th in 19:29.5, while Nathan Cumberledge was 105th (20:12.0), Alex Schwenk 127th (21:23.9) and Xavier Homebaugh 135th (21:54.0).

For the girls, Madison Swartzentruber led the Olympians with a 58th-place finish in 22:49.2. Ainslee Shaw took 72nd in 24:01.7, while Delaney Rogers was 86th (24:20.7), Elizabeth Sztaba 107th (25:49.5) and Hayden Carothers 108th (25:51.8).

Sadie Hiatt finished 68th in 23:50.7 to lead the Eagles. Izzy Miller took 78th in 24:10.7, while Nora Mofield was 102nd (25:34.7), Della Hitchcock 116th (26:30.3) and Megan Cumberledge 137th (28:23.8).
