Columbus Animal Care Services, 2730 Arnold St., will host a ribbon cutting and open house on Monday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. to celebrate its new Forever Home Garden and National Dog Day.
The Forever Home Garden was built to honor the late Constance Seward, and the time she devoted as a volunteer for area animal welfare organizations. An Open House for the garden will include opening remarks from Mayor Mary Ferdon, as well as treats for dogs, light refreshments and information about volunteer opportunities at the shelter.
Guests at the open house can also paint memorial rocks for a lost pet to place in the garden or take home, and take home potted native plant starts from the garden.
The shelter is holding a Support Our Shelter (SOS) promotion, where adoption fees are offered at half price. All animals are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped before going home.
