Gino Prescott // Columbus North senior football player

Prescott carried 11 times for 95 yards and three touchdowns and caught two passes Friday to help lead the Bull Dogs to a season-opening 41-15 win at Class 5A No. 1 Decatur Central.

His performance last week: “I always feel like I have room to improve, so I’m ready just to have a better week this week.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually, I listen to a lot of music throughout the day, watch film. I always choose one (pro) running back before the game to watch his highlight reel and just study those and try to play like him that day.”

Favorite drink: “Pink Lemonade Hi-C”

Favorite food: “My aunt’s fried chicken at Homeboyz”

Favorite class: “Medical Intervention”

Favorite sports team: “San Francisco 49ers”

Favorite athlete: “Christian McCaffrey”

Role model: “My dad (Jamal Prescott)”

Best advice: “Never count your reps. Always stay hungry. Always be ready to go.”

Athletics goal: “To make history. Bring home a sectional title, and make a (state) title run.”

If you could travel anywhere: “I’ve always wanted to go to Brazil. It seems so beautiful.”

Lilly VanNess

VanNess fired a school-record 1-over-par 74 Saturday at Forest Park to win medalist honors and lead the Eagles to a runner-up team finish in the Western Indiana Conference tournament.

Her performance last week: “I had a couple bad holes, but was able to make it up with a couple birdies. I left a couple shots out on the course, but for the most part, I can’t be mad at my round.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually will practice with my team, and then my dad will usually give me some tips and help me stay calm.”

Favorite drink: “Lemonade”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite class: “Math”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University”

Favorite athlete: “Nelly Korda”

Role model: “My dad (Ben VanNess).”

Best advice: “Just believe in yourself. You know what you’re capable of and are able to achieve.’’

If you could travel anywhere: “Italy, to try all the food there, and to also see some pretty cool golf courses.”
