COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two Bartholomew County cooling stations will be open today and Wednesday as temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s both days.

The cooling stations will be the Bartholomew County Main Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus and the Bartholomew County Library branch in Hope, at 635 Harrison St.

Hours at the main library are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and hours at the Hope branch are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials will monitor weather to determine if the cooling stations will need to continue later in the week.

Cooling stations are a location where individuals who do not have air conditioning may visit to cool down from the heat. Food, showers and areas for sleep are not available.

Those who visit the cooling stations are asked to respect the rules of the facility and other individuals in the facility.
