North rallies past New Albany

NEW ALBANY — New Albany scored first Tuesday, but Columbus North rallied to post a 4-1 boys soccer victory.

After New Albany netted a goal in the 12th minute, North (4-1) tied it in the 26th minute on a goal from Angel Espejel off an assist from Jony Garcia Renteria. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.

North took the lead in the 48th minute on a goal by Garcia Renteria off an assist from Leo Iorio. Renteria Garcia then scored another goal off an assist from Mathiang Kak in the 60th minute, and Jonah Sipes added a goal in the 77th minute.

North outshot New Albany 25-2, putting 13 shots on goal to one for New Albany. Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon played the first 66 minutes in goal, and Noah Marsh played the final 14 minutes, with neither having to make a save.
