One dead in Shelby County accident

SHELBY COUNTY — One person died and another was arrested after a two-vehicle crash on Morristown Road north of Rafferty Road at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday, Shelby County Sheriff Maj. Chris Holder said.

Investigators said a 2020 Ram pickup heading north on Morristown Road driven by Trevor Wilkins, 28, Shelbyville, crossed into the southbound lane, striking a 2003 Honda passenger car head-on.

The driver of the Honda was deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Shelby County Coroner’s office.  Wilkins has been arrested for driving under the influence causing death, Holder said. The investigation is ongoing.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Shelbyville Fire Department, Shelbyville Police Department, Shelby County coroner’s office, Shelby County EMA and Indiana State Police.
