Paul J. Weiner

GREEN BAY, WI

Paul J. Weiner, age 89, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was the eldest child born to Agnes and Jacob Weiner on December 14, 1934. No doubt his work ethic came from being raised on a farm.

Paul met the love of his life, Mary, at a dance hall. The two became one on September 29, 1956. He was a devoted husband and father. Together they raised 4 children.

Paul was a dedicated, hard-working man. Most of his career was spent as a repairman in the vending industry. He worked for Owen Vending in Janesville, and Quality/Konop Vending Green Bay.

Paul was known to many as the “fix-it man”. He spent many hours in the garage fixing small engine items. If you found the garage door open, it was an invitation to stop by and chit-chat; but you had to be prepared to sit and listen for awhile because he always had stories to tell.

One of Paul’s passions was trapshooting. At the age of 89 and after radiation treatments started, he shot a perfect score of 25. He was so proud of that. There were many times you could find 4 generations on the shooting line. Nothing made him happier than to look down the line and say “Squad ready?”

Paul will be sadly missed, but we are so happy that he is finally reunited with his dance partner, Mary.

Paul is survived by his children: Alice (Rory) McCoy, Alan “Al” (Tami) Weiner, Karen (Al) Brice, Janet Weiner; 7 grandchildren: Jacob (Ashley) Weiner, Lucas (Allison) Weiner, Pamela (Michael) Geocaris, Jennifer (Adam) Vander Zanden, Brian (Kacey) McCoy, Mike (Jacki) Brice, Eric (Meredith) McCoy; 11 great grandchildren, his sister Gloria (John) Habhegger, his brothers-in-law, Walter (Mae) Hilby, David (Polly) Hilby, Ken (Nancy) Hilby, Charles Larson, sister-in-law, Sharon Weiner.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 1/2 years, Mary, his parents, and his siblings: JoAnne Hilby, LaVonne Larson, Jerome Weiner, LeRoy Weiner, his in-law, Valentine and Anna Hilby, brothers-in-law, Roland Hilby, Valentine Hilby, Wayne Weinzirl, George Hilby. sisters-in-law, Irene Weinzirl, Alice Hilby, Mary Anne Hilby, and Jo Hilby.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist, 247 St. John St. Green Bay; from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm with a vigil service at 6:00 pm and again on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am until Mass at 11:00 am.

The family is very grateful to the friends and family who brought food, checked in on him or offered companionship while he was care-taking for Mom, grieving the passing of Mom, and through his radiation treatments. Your acts of kindness did not go unnoticed.
