Frances (Fran) Ann Kissel passed away peacefully at her home in Columbus, Indiana on August 28, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 24, 1952, the daughter of Dr. Ralph Springhorn and Dorothy Jude Springhorn in Columbus, Indiana. Fran made Columbus her home all of her life, most recently at Clairmont court where she and her husband built their dream home.

Fran was preceded in death by her sister, Susan M Lucas, her brother, Dr. Edward Springhorn, a nephew, Jeff Springhorn, her parents and grandparents.

Fran was a 1970 graduate of Columbus North high School. She completed her bachelor of science degree at IUPUC in 2002. In the past years she worked at Circle K, Columbus Container and in the office at Springhorn Chiropractic.

Family was very important to Fran. In her own words her greatest accomplishment in life was raising Michael and Katie. She was known throughout her life to be a talented seamstress, serving others, and for her skills in the kitchen. One of her greatest joys was putting together family dinners; no one ever left Fran’s home hungry.

She married the love of her life, Tim Kissel in 2010 during a gorgeous sunset ceremony on Dale Hollow lake surrounded by family and friends. As a couple they enjoyed traveling and going on adventures such as hot air ballooning in New Mexico and visiting family and friends throughout the United States. Most recently Fran went on the trip of a lifetime with friends to Greece, Italy and Croatia in 2023.

She was an active member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church until the time her health began to fail. Her church and her faith were deeply important to her. She was a fellowship leader and enjoyed participating in the many activities and outreach programs that benefited her local community.

Fran’s family would like to thank Our Hospice of South Central Indiana nurse Jessica and home health aide Debbie for their exceptional care and grace while keeping her comfortable in the last moments of her life.

Fran’s last piece of advice was that it doesn’t cost anything to be kind. It is suggested that Fran be honored by intentional acts of kindness (something you may not otherwise do) done in her memory. In lieu of flowers, interested donors may make a contribution to Sandy Hook United Methodist Church.

In keeping with her wishes, Fran was cremated and there will be a service celebrating her life at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 10am.
