Columbus East juniors and seniors arrived at Columbus North in togas and orange body paint hours before the annual football showdown between East and North. Good-natured trash talk filled the tailgate scene, which consisted of a large grill and a blue tent covering cheeseburgers and sides.

1999

Parkside Baptist Church began offering services in Chinese, Korean and Spanish, with pastors from each culture. The multicultural congregations met periodically with Parkside’s main group and sang songs in their native languages.

1974

Four new corporate officers, Paul A. Branstad, F. Holmes Lamoreux, W. Fred Meyer and Adrian E. Minnick were elected at Arvin Industries’ quarterly meeting. Branstad was elected vice president for strategic planning, Lamoreux, vice president and treasurer, Meyer, vice president for public relations, and Minnick, vice president for personnel.
