COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Mark A. Williams, a cherished son, father, brother, and Papaw, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, at his home in Columbus, Indiana. Born on September 3, 1960, in Columbus to Robert W. Williams and Olene Williams, Mark’s life was characterized by his infectious humor, kindness, and innate ability to connect with everyone he met.

Mark was renowned in Columbus not only for his professional expertise as a master mechanic for the City of Columbus Fire Department but also for his endearing personality. His laughter and jovial presence could light up any room, and his love for the outdoors, cars, and children was evident to all who knew him.

A true family man, Mark dedicated his heart to his daughters, Melissa Brunning, Paige Williams, and Olivia Williams, and beamed with pride at his granddaughters, Daniella and Miller, and his great-granddaughter, Paisley. His mother, Olene Williams; his siblings, Mary Williams, Shannon (Jimmy) Lee, and Norvin (Ginger) Williams; niece, Bayleigh Fields and many close friends deeply felt his love and support.

Mark will be fondly remembered as a loving, friendly, and funny individual, touching lives both within his family circle and the broader community. His memory will be kept alive by the countless stories of his generosity and spirited character. Mark’s legacy of love and laughter will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.

Funeral services to remember Mark’s life will be held on Wednesday September 4, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Blair officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Church of the Nazarene where Mark found his spiritual home.
