Sixteen middle school students from Miyoshi, Japan, spent the week experiencing Columbus and American culture. The students and teachers lived with local families during their stay for the 20th year sister cities Miyoshi and Columbus shared their cultural exchange.

1999

IUPUC began offering its first computer class for seniors, called “Keep It Simple, Seniors.” The class introduced students to the basics of word processing, email and the internet.

1974

Columbus received 3.37 inches of rain and an overnight low of 49 degrees, which was unseasonably cool for Labor Day week. Along with the rain, a countywide electrical storm passed over, and a tree at Otter Creek Golf Course was struck by lightning.
