Hope Cruise-In Friday on the square

The next Hope Cruise-In from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday on the historic Hope Town Square will give people a chance to shake their bumper a bit.

Local classic country band Caddo Parish will provide the live soundtrack at the free outdoor event that has attracted more than 200 people at some of the monthly gatherings this summer. The music group specializes in country tunes from the 1950s through the 1990s.

The band has played at venues ranging from Hope Heritage Days to area nightspots in Columbus, Greensburg and beyond.

Suggested donations of $10 or more from drivers of the cars participating in the cruise-in — and from others, too — will support the Hope Volunteer Fire Department and the Hope/Haw Creek Ministerial Association. There will be random prizes presented for registered entries. There also will be a 50/50 raffle.

Each cruise-in has benefited a different local cause. The fire department and local restaurants will provide a variety of food and drink choices.

Columbus’ Elwood Staffing provides support to make the event possible. Friday’s event will be this year’s last Cruise-In to Hope on the town square.

The final cruise-in event of the year will be slightly different, held at at Miller’s Merry Manor, 7440 N. County Road 825E, Hope, at 9 a.m. Saturday Oct. 5. Proceeds that day will benefit researching Alzheimer’s disease.

The October cruise-in will include a pancake breakfast.
