IU Columbus beginner enrollment rises; Bloomington enrollment sets record

Beginner undergraduate student enrollment at Indiana University Columbus increased by 6.6% this year, while the Bloomington campus set a record for student enrollment, the university announced Friday.

Beginner enrollment numbers at IU Columbus outpaced the increase of new students at IU campuses systemwide. Overall, new beginning student enrollment increased 3.5% university-wide with 15,574 new students.

Nearly 90,000 total students are enrolled at IU this year, an increase of 2% from last year. Of those, a record 48,424 students are enrolled at the Bloomington campus, the university said.

The total number of students enrolled for the fall 2024 semester at IU Columbus was not immediately available.

Following are trends at other campuses provided by IU:

  • IU Indianapolis first-year enrollment increased 9%. Total student enrollment is 20,568.
  • IU Fort Wayne beginner undergraduate enrollment rose 19.1%.
  • IU East (Richmond) overall undergraduate enrollment is up 7.5%.
  • IU Kokomo overall undergraduate enrollment is up 1.2%.
  • IU South Bend overall undergraduate enrollment is up 4.2%.
  • IU Online overall enrollment increased 10% to a record 9,362 students.

The enrollment figures represent the number of students on IU’s official fall census day for this academic school year, which was Sept. 2.
