Columbus resident George Estep opened a freestanding Subway restaurant on State Street near Gladstone Avenue in light of the planned State Street corridor improvements that were expected to increase traffic in the area.

1999

David Garrison of Columbus designed T-shirts used in the filming of the independent movie “Madison.” The shirts boasted the logo for the 1971 Gold Cup Race in the Madison Regatta.

1974

Six Columbus North and East high school students studying German attended the fourth annual National Federation of Students of German convention at the Western State College of Colorado. The students were Doug Brouwer, Steve Lienhoop, Marty Larkin, Randy Broady, Jim Lloyd and Brian Madden.
