Several win at Brownstown

There was rain all around the Brownstown Speedway on Aug. 31, and even though the track received a brief shower, all five racing divisions’ feature events were completed.

Tyler Cain of Seymour visited Victory Lane again in the P3 Graphix Indiana Late Model Series Pro Late Model feature for the second week in a row. Cain led all 25 laps of the feature event, but had to hold off Rick Gumm on the last lap for the win. Gumm got to the bumper of Cain on the last lap, but slipped off Turn 4 coming to the checkers and fell to fifth. Cain’s fifth win of the year was ahead of Patrick Shumaker, Keaton Streeval, Skyller Lewis and Rick Gumm.

Tucker Chastain and Isaiah Sasser, both of Bedford, brought the field to green in the Pewter Hall Super Stock feature. Tucker Chastain led the first 12 laps until Isaiah Sasser took over the top spot and went on to score his third win of the year. Colton Sullivan, Matt Boknecht, Tucker Chastain and Blake Hull followed Isaiah Sasser at the finish.

Brent McMillan of North Vernon picked up win No. 5 in Crossroads Truck Equipment Pure Stocks. Josh Turner led most of the race, with McMillian and Preston Carr battling Turner for the lead. McMillian took the lead on the white flag lap to score the win. Following McMillan were Turner, Carr, J.T. Huffman and Dustin Foster.

Michael Cranmer of Charlestown got his first win of 2024 in the Crown Vic feature. Cranmer led all 20 caution-free laps, but Aaron Seay pulled side-by-side with Cranmer coming to the checkers and just came up short. Seay settled for second over Matt Weston, Brandon Cranmer and Todd Cain.

Michael Brewer of North Vernon visited Victory Lane for the ninth time this year in the Hornet division. Curtis Roccia jumped to the early lead and left the race with mechanical trouble. Brewer took over the lead and held on for the win. Jeremy Shemwell, Matt Miller, Shannon Walp and Taylor Alcorn trailed at the checkers.
