The IHSAA approved the new sectional alignments for the baseball and softball season next spring at its latest executive commitee meeting.
Columbus East and Columbus North will be in a Class 4A sectional with Whiteland, Franklin and East Central for both the baseball and softball sectional.
Hauser will be in a Class A sectional with Crothersville, Jac-Cen-Del, Milan, Oldenburg Academy, Rising Sun, Shawe Memorial and Trinity Lutheran for both the baseball and softball sectional.
The hosts for each sectional will be determined at a later date.
Fall sports sectional draws coming up
Mark your calendars. We’re weeks away from each team knowing its first opponents in the postseason.
The boys and girls soccer sectional pairings will be announced at 7 p.m. Sept. 29. The boys tennis draw will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 30.
Also, the volleyball sectional draws will be on Oct. 6, with the time still to be determined. The football sectional draws will be announced at 6 p.m. Oct. 13.

East girls soccer time changed
The Columbus East girls soccer contest on Saturday against Hoosier Hills Conference opponent Floyd Central has been moved up to a 4 p.m. varsity start. The JV will play a half following the varsity contest.
Also, the Columbus North vs. Columbus East boys and girls cross-country dual meet that was canceled on Aug. 27 because of heat will not be rescheduled.
