Columbus residents Frank Reuss, Mary Garten and Dodie Burgeson and Four Seasons Retirement Center Chaplain Phyllis Hawkins visited Oakdale Christian Academy in Jackson, Kentucky, to do volunteer work. The four did light gardening, cleaning, repairs, yardwork and kitchen duties, as well as volunteered in the library and school office.

Safe Kids of Bartholomew County conducted a Bicycle Skills Course and Safety Challenge at Ivy Tech State College in Columbus, which included a bike rodeo and a demonstration from the Columbus Police Department bicycle patrol.

The Columbus regional museum of the Indianapolis Museum of Art was dedicated at the Visitors Center. The collection contained more than 75 works of art from the IMA that were displayed on the center’s second floor.
