COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by the Columbus SWAT team, served a search warrant on an Elizabethtown residence where they arrested an Elizabethtown man on drug-related charges.

On Sept. 6, the search warrant was served in the 400 block of Third Street in Elizabethtown, said Sgt. Dane Duke, sheriff’s office spokesman.

The search was based on information gathered earlier implicating Christopher Henson, 48, Elizabethtown on possibly dealing narcotics.

The search of the residence resulted in locating a substantial amount of methamphetamine, syringes, scales and other drug paraphernalia. Henson was also found to have a previous dealing conviction.

After Henson’s arrest deputies discovered that before he could be taken into custody Henson had swallowed a significant amount of alleged fentanyl, Duke said.

Henson was then transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

After the completion of his treatment Henson was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was booked on the charges of: Dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug, obstruction of justice, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia. He is currently being held on a 72 hour hold at the Bartholomew County Jail.
