ISP arrests Indianapolis man accused of pointing firearm at another person during road rage incident

INDIANAPOLIS –Indiana State Police Detectives arrested an Indianapolis man for allegedly pointing a firearm at another person during a road rage incident.

At about 11 a.m. Tuesday, Indiana State Police dispatchers received a 911 call reporting an incident that involved someone pointing a firearm. Troopers responded to the last known location of the suspect vehicle and located it in Franklin.

During the course of the investigation, detectives located a Taurus revolver inside the suspect’s vehicle. They learned information about an alleged road rage situation between the suspect and the victim on I-465 near East Street. Based upon all the information discovered during the investigation, probable cause for an arrest was developed. Detectives arrested Douglas Tandy, 59, of Indianapolis. He now faces the preliminary charges of:

  • Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Level 6 Felony
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Level 5 Felony
  • Pointing a Firearm, Level 6 Felony

This arrest is based upon probable cause of a crime, all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court. The charges listed are preliminary, actual charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Tandy was incarcerated at the Marion County Jail.

Since Jan. 1st, Indiana State Troopers have investigated 53 shootings on Indianapolis area interstates and an additional 213 incidents of road rage that involve someone pointing or displaying a firearm but not firing shots.
