2014
Around 1,700 volunteers participated in more than 30 community projects as part of the United Way of Bartholomew County Day of Service. Some of the projects included a revitalization of the Ninth Street Park and a cleanup of the former St. Bartholomew Church.
1999
The second annual Public Safety Picnic was held at the Ramada Inn, which included police officers, firefighters, medics and other emergency personnel. Proceeds from public ticket sales went toward the Firemen’s Cheer Fund.
1974
A recognition banquet for local citizens who aided in the establishment of the Columbus Center of IUPUI was held at Bakalar Municipal Airport. John Ryan, president of Indiana University, Purdue University President Arthur G. Hansen and Indiana University Vice President Glen Irwin were in attendance.
