WHITELAND — The Columbus East boys finished fifth, and Hauser took seventh in Saturday’s Whiteland Cross-Country Invitational.
Whiteland won the boys meet with 31 points. The Olympians scored 138, and the Jets had 176.
Jackson Brookes led East with a 19th-place finish in 18 minutes, 12.09 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Norman Dickson took 21st in 18:15.57, while Elijah Clore was 24th (18:20.80), Austin Menefee 36th (18:47.89) and Chance Knapp 48th (19:28.14).
Hauser’s Nolan Dailey finished second in 16:41.06, just six-tenths of a second behind winner Colton Watson of Whiteland. The Jets’ Mason Moore and Koleson Gernentz took 41st and 42nd in 18:52.55 and 18:53.84, while Braydon McFarland was 52nd (19:31.39) and Grady Niccum 68th (20:16.16).
The East girls finished 11th with 251 points. Whiteland won with 40. Madison Swartzentruber led the Olympians with a 40th-place finish in 22:26.68, while Ainslee Shaw was 55th (24:43.72), Delaney Rogers 58th (25:05.10), Abby Collins 73rd (25:56.44) and Elizabeth Sztaba 74th (25:56.86).
