COLUMBUS
Alicia Villarreal, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Columbus, Indiana, peacefully passed from this life to enter Heaven’s glorious paradise at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024. She was surrounded by her loved ones at Columbus Regional Hospital when she passed at the age of 86.
Alicia was born in McAllen, Texas, April 7, 1938, the loving daughter of Valentin and Juanita Morin Quintanilla. Alicia’s family relocated to Columbus, Indiana in 1966. Alicia was employed at BCSC in the early 70’s before becoming a homemaker. Alicia was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She took pride in caring for and loving her family and she cherished the time she spent with them. Alicia was an avid reader and she enjoyed working puzzles.
Alicia will be remembered by her children, San Juanita Sanford of Hope, Sandra (Tony) Spachtholz of Columbus, Santiago “Jimmy” (Alisha) Villarreal of Columbus, Michael (Nichole) Villarreal of Columbus and Jesse “Chuy” (Jamie Hill) Villarreal of Columbus; grandchildren, Shawn Sanford, Kira (Tanner) Glick Smith, Logan Spachtholz, Christina (Brandon) Goins, Cameron A. Glick, Connor Spachtholz (fiance Jaqueline Clark), Haley (Carson) St. Andrews, Jalen Villarreal, Tryce Villarreal, Vincent “Vinnie” Villarreal, Kihrun Scott, Kyson Villarreal, Kaleah Scott, Aiden Villarreal, Cameron Villarreal and Ryanne Villarreal; and eight great-grandchildren, Anthony Spachtholz, Caden Glick, Joden Sanford, Xavier Villarreal, Amara Villarreal, Jude Smith, Kaizer Jones and Kingstin Spachtholz.
Alicia was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ronald Sanford and nephew, Carlos Salinas.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church; the celebrant will be Father Chris Wadelton. Alicia will be laid to rest in Section 46 at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Alicia may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
