* The Bartholomew County Public Library’s free concert series on the plaza at 536 Fifth St. downtown continues with local act Ruben Guthrie and Albert Nolting performing at 6 p.m. Friday. Organizers have been pleased with attendance, even when there has been cloudiness and the threat of rain. Guthrie has performed with bands and also solo in the Columbus area for more than 20 years, including playing before thousands at Mill Race Park years ago. Nolting is a lifelong Bartholomew County resident with a degree in guitar performance from the Jacobs School of Music. He teaches freelance guitar lessons in addition to performing solo and as a guitarist and keyboardist for the Columbus-based band The Fusion. *In something of a perfect prep for fall comes the Second Annual Through the Looking Glass outdoor festival from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Wildflower Creations and Rentals, 11685 W. County Road 525S in Columbus, featuring music, food, art, vendors, poetry, games and more — all for $15 admission (those 12 and younger are admitted free). The artistic lineup includes artist Maggie Sharar from Seattle, Florida-based music duo Goldpine, Jenna English from the Ozarks, Taylor Bradshaw, and artist Robin Sealark from New York City. Organizer Cristina Holt mentioned that she is seeking those willing to drive just a few minutes for a lot of something different. Information: wildflowercreationsandrentalsllc.com.
