Linda Mae Helt

Linda Mae Helt, a resident of Seymour, Indiana, passed from this life at 4:44 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour at the age of 85.

Mrs. Helt was born in Jennings County, Indiana, September 7, 1938, the loving daughter of Clarence and Dortha Gregory Hubbard. She was the faithful wife of Chris Helt Jr. to whom she was married to for nearly 55 years from May 26, 1956 until his death May 1, 2011.

Mrs. Helt was a 1956 graduate of Jennings County High School. A homemaker, Mrs. Helt served as a teacher’s aid at the former Elizabethtown Elementary School and she worked as a medical secretary at Bartholomew County Hospital..

Mrs. Helt was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour and some of her hobbies included writing poetry, music, interior decorating, quilting and baking.

Mrs. Helt’s life will be remembered and cherished by her daughter, Lisa Helt (Anthony) Childers of Independence, Iowa; grandchildren, Christopher (Kendyl) Childers of Yukon, Oklahoma, Ethan (Kaylan) Childers of Columbus and Sarah Childers of Independence, Iowa; great-grandsons, Lucas and Liam Childers; brother, Mark Hubbard of Winter Haven, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Mrs. Helt was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Dortha Hubbard; her husband, Chris Helt Jr.; siblings, Judith Southerland, Carol Castor, Janice Boyd and Gary Hubbard; and her aunt, Georgia Foist.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2024 at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastors James Rodriguez and Philip Block will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Helt will be entombed with her husband at the Garland Brook Mausoleum.
