Rebecca Pearl Reed, affectionately known as Becky to her friends and family, passed away on September 20, 2024. Born on November 19, 1942, in Mobile, AL., the daughter of, Nathan and Ludie Posey. She later married Ronald Wayne Reed who preceded in her death on December 25, 2019.

Becky’s warmth and vivacious spirit were apparent early in life. She carried that energy into her adult years as she became a beloved figure in her community. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as the owner and operator of Becky’s Beauty Salon in Columbus, where her passion for beauty and care for others made her business a local favorite.

She was an avid traveler, exploring the United States with her husband, Ron, with a particular fondness for the excitement of NASCAR races. Becky’s love for the sun and water was undeniable; she cherished her vacations in Florida, where she could often be found basking on the beach or enjoying the tranquility of the pool.

A pillar of her community, Becky was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus for over half a century. Her faith was a source of strength and inspiration, and her commitment to her church family was unwavering.

Becky’s legacy is lovingly carried on by her family, who were the center of her world. She was a cherished mother to her children, Jeff (Teri) Reed of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Nannette (John) Hurley of Brighten, Michigan. Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one that brought her immense joy, and she leaves behind five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will miss her profoundly.

Those who knew Becky will remember her for her generous heart and her ability to make everyone feel like family. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a gift, and her guidance a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024 at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Mackenzie Phillips officiating.

Calling will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the funeral home.

Becky will be entombed at the Garland Brook Mausoleum, next to her husband.
