BLOOMFIELD FORMERLY OF COLUMBUS
Kathy Sue Smith-Ward, of Bloomfield, Indiana, formerly of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:58 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at her home at the age of 69.
Kathy was born in Bloomington, Indiana, April 25, 1955, the youngest of seven children born to Floyd and Effie Smith.
A homemaker, Kathy had previously worked in the Bartholomew County Surveyor’s Office, had been a hairdresser and a florist, all positions that she found great success in.
Kathy will be remembered for her interior decorating and her beautiful floral arrangements and for her passion for antiquing. Most of all, Kathy cherished the time she spent with her family.
Kathy will be missed by her husband, Robert J. Ward; children, Misty (John) Collier of Columbus and Nathan Gray of Columbus; grandchildren, Mitchel Collier, Ava Collier and Lillian Gray all of Columbus; siblings, Leona Smith, Jean Alexander, Mike Smith, Carol Ableman, Betty Duling and Linda Morgan; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Effie Smith.
A private family service will be held at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home; Virgil Clotfelter will officiate. Kathy will be laid to rest at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. In memory of Kathy, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
