Letter: Blessing box is great, but think how it might better serve homeless

From: Noel Taylor

Columbus

I’m grateful to Bartholomew County for allowing the placement of “The Blessing Box” on its library property, but notice that homeless people in Columbus are having to educate some of us.

Think: What’s a homeless person to do with a 4-pound bag of flour? Does a homeless person even have a can opener?

I appreciate the gentle clues from seeing hard kernels of popping corn scattered around the box, and I suspect that they’re not just feeding the pigeons. How about you? Do you think pop-top cans would be a good idea? How about plastic silverware and napkins?
