More than 3,400 runners and walkers crossed the finish line of the Mill Race Marathon. Patrick Cheptoek and Emmy Chepkirui won the half-marathon, and Geoffrey Kiprotich and Sarah Overpeck won the full marathon.

1999

Brian Leach, youth minister at First Christian Church, found himself under Tammie LeClerc’s clippers as 111 children chanted “Off with the hair!” Leach had promised to shave his head if the church’s Sunday evening youth program exceeded 110 children.

1974

The Columbus North High School football team beat South-Central Conference rival Franklin 35-8. Three touchdowns in the third quarter cemented the win under North coach Bill McCaa’s direction.
