Martha L. Lawless

COLUMBUS

Martha L. Lawless, 85, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Traditions at Columbus. She was born March 15, 1939 in Westport, IN, to Paul and Mary (Hulse) Gohn. They preceded her in death.

Martha was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was a former choir member. She and her late husband, Donald, were also former members of the Mustang Club.

Martha loved sewing, traveling, photography, crafts and gardening. She took extra care of the strawberries from her father’s farm. Those who really knew Martha will remember that she enjoyed long conversations with family and friends. But more than anything, she loved being with her family and was treasured by them.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Bode.

She leaves behind her loving children, Donald (Lynn) Lawless of Westfield, and Lucinda (Keith) Bauer of Columbus; granddaughters, Megan (Reid) Searles, and Molly (Austin) Vance; and great-grandchildren, Madeline, Rowan, Olivia, and Anne, and her sister, Emmogene Poore. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Pastor Tim Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
