Swift ticket giveaway adds pop to Love Where You Live event

Heritage Fund – The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County has been planning a big event celebrating our community and Heritage Fund’s mission to improve the quality of life locally through philanthropy and good works.

Heritage Fund’s Love Where You Live Campaign event planned for Saturday, Oct. 5, got Taylor-made news last week that’s sure to drum up excitement. That is, organizers will be giving away two of the hottest tickets around — tickets to megastar Taylor Swift’s Nov. 1 show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Entrants for the ticket giveaway must be at least 18 or older, be a resident of Bartholomew County and complete three tasks: sign up for the giveaway and to receive Heritage Fund news; like Heritage Fund on Facebook (@heritagefundbc); and consider making a donation to the Community Fund. Entries will be accepted in person at the Love Where You Live Event on Oct. 5 in downtown Columbus or online at lovewhereyoulivecolumbus.org.

Free Taylor Swift tickets are an undeniably big deal, especially for Swifties, many of whom already were looking forward to the Love Where You Live Event that will feature a Swift tribute band, Miss Americanas, at 4 p.m. on the library plaza.

But the lure of those tickets also is in support of a mission to support community, home, and how we can all help make those things better. And regardless of whether you’re a fan of the world’s most popular recording artist, the Love Where You Live event is one that should be music to everyone’s ears.

The day’s events also are a celebration that will include dancing in the streets with a Rock the Block Dance Party under InterOculus at 6:30 p.m., artist demonstrations, food trucks and beverage vendors, a live mural creation and much more.

“We are looking forward to celebrating Love Where You Live in downtown Columbus,” Kristin Munn, Heritage Fund’s vice president of operations and development, said when the event was announced last month. “We hope members of the community will join us for music, dancing and lots of fun.”

As The Republic reported when the event was announced, “The inaugural LWYL event coincides with the sixth annual LWYL Campaign in support of Heritage Fund’s Community Fund. These unrestricted dollars facilitate targeted grantmaking for projects and programs in Heritage Fund’s Impact Areas of Arts, Culture, and Architecture; Youth Development; and Downtown Vitality. Heritage Fund annually awards more than $800,000 in grants from the Community Fund to local nonprofits.”

The term “unrestricted” is important. Heritage Fund serves many philanthropic needs where donors have identified precisely how they want their gifts to be used, such as scholarship funds. Unrestricted gifts allow the fund to have flexibility to donate those dollar for needs as they arise.

Meantime, mark Oct. 5 on your calendar as a day to enjoy some of the best things Columbus and Bartholomew County have to offer. A great turnout for this inaugural event will serve as a testament to the love that local folks have for the place where they live.
