Jim Ryser, a former pop musician and Indianapolis IU Health program manager of pain services, spoke in Columbus about prescription drug abuse and pain solutions during the sixth annual Desperate Households Conference at Community Church of Columbus.

1999

Tim Solso, chief operating officer and president of Cummins Engine Co. since 1995, succeeded Jim Henderson as chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of the company. Henderson was one of four top executives in the company’s history to leave all responsibilities to his successor.

1974

Columbus native Brent Simmons qualified for the United States Olympic gymnastics team for the second time. Simmons also qualified in 1972, but broke his finger and was unable to compete in the final Olympic trials.
