Thomas Houpey // Columbus East senior football player

Houpey ran for 129 yards Saturday in the Olympians’ 34-14 win at Floyd Central. It was his fourth consecutive 100-yard game.

His performance last week: “I feel pretty good about it. I think a lot of it revolved around how the O-line blocked.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Just listen to music.”

Favorite drink: “Sweet tea”

Favorite food: “Chicken tenders”

Favorite class: “Criminal Justice”

Favorite sports team: “Kansas City Chiefs”

Favorite athlete: “Jonathan Taylor”

Role model: “My dad (Matthew Houpey).”

Best advice: “Always give your max amount of effort, and you’ll never regret it.”

Athletics goal: “I’d like to play in college.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Australia, because I love the beach and it would be cool to see their culture.”

Kennedy Horn // Columbus North senior volleyball player

Kennedy Horn

Horn led the Bull Dogs with 12 kills, two blocks and three aces in a five-set win against New Albany; 12 kills, six blocks and one ace in a three-set loss at Floyd Central; 10 kills and three blocks in a three-set win at Greenwood and 45 kills and 13 blocks in four matches in Saturday’s Heritage Days Classic.

Her performance last week: “I’m really proud of the team for pushing through, even though we didn’t win every match. We played well, and I think we grew as a team, and my team makes me better.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually just have a snack with the team and then praying.”

Favorite drink: “Body Armor”

Favorite food: “Tacos”

Favorite class: “Medical Terminology.”

Favorite sports team: “Purdue volleyball”

Favorite athlete: “Caitlin Clark”

Role model: “God. He gives me all of my successes, and I owe everything to Him.”

Best advice: “Control what you can control, and be positive.’’’

Athletics goal: “Next year, being successful at Seton Hall and having a safe season, and I want to go to medical school after to be an orthopedic surgeon.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Rome, just the history and the cool architecture, and the food looks really good.”
