IUC men tie Brescia, women take loss

OWENSBORO, Ky. — IU Columbus rallied from a 2-0 deficit Thursday to forge a 2-2 tie at Brescia in its River States Conference men’s soccer opener.

Kevin Cruz scored off an assist from Bryce Dolenc in the 26th minute. Angel Roque netted the tying goal off an assist from Rex Randy in the 71st minute.

The Crimson Pride (4-5-2, 0-0-1) outshot Brescia 16-14, putting eight shots on goal to seven for Brescia. Jacob Kasarda recorded five saves.

The IUC women fell to Brescia 5-1 on Thursday. Lily Campbell scored an unassisted goal for the Crimson Pride.

Brescia outshot IUC 25-5, putting five shots on goal to four for the Crimson Pride. Mallory Gilley posted 10 saves.

IUC will host Midway on Saturday, with the women starting at 4:30 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m. at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
