Caitlyn Williams and Markell Jones were named Columbus East Homecoming Queen and King on Oct. 3, 2014, during halftime of the Olympians’ football game against Madison.

The Hacienda Lounge in Garden City closed its doors for the last time after it was sold by co-owner Danny Decker. First opened in July 1962 by Marylou and William A. “Bill” Decker, the establishment was originally called Lou La Bill’s Tavern.

1999

J. William Kendall, retired chairman of the gift committee at Arvin Foundation, was named co-recipient of the 1999 Paul Samuelson Award for Community Leadership. The award was given to community leaders who displayed initiative, personal involvement and leadership in their communities by the Indiana Council for Economic Education.

1974

Walter Divan and James D. Carson were named as plant managers for Cummins Engine Co. Divan became the manager of the plant at Fifth and California streets, and Carson became the manger of the plant in Walesboro.
