Club Olympia swimmers compete in Louisville

Thirty-nine Club Olympia swimmers competed against four other teams from Louisville and Nashville, Tennessee, at Lakeside Swim Club’s Jack Thompson Invitational last weekend at the Mary T Meagher Natatorium in Louisville.

Club Olympia finished third with 363 points, beating Cardinal Athletics (311) and Tsunami Swim Club (98). Host club Lakeside finished in first with almost 5,000 points. Ensworth Aquatics had 828 points from around 80 swimmers to finish in second. Only the top 10 finishers in each event scored, giving the host team a great advantage as they had over 300 swimmers entered in the meet.

Camila Mejia Murguia led the way for Club Olympia with 88 points by finishing in first place in the 11-12 Girls 50-yard butterfly, 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. She also finished second in the 50 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 200 individual medley, as well as seventh in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke.

Lexi Miller scored 52 points by winning the 11-12 Girls 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. She was also the top 12-and-under swimmer in the Girls Open 1,000 freestyle, where she finished in 13th overall. Miller also placed third in the 100 freestyle, fifth in the 50 freestyle, sixth in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM, seventh in the 50 backstroke, ninth in the 50 butterfly, 11th in the 50 breaststroke and 17th in the 100 breaststroke.

Rebecca Mejia Murguia scored 44 points by placing fourth in the 11-12 Girls 50 butterfly and 50 breaststroke; fifth in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly; sixth in the 500 freestyle; seventh in the 200 IM; eighth in the 100 freestyle; 12th in the 50 backstroke and 19th in the 100 backstroke.

Josh Pendleton, competing in just two days of the three-day meet, scored 38 points by winning the 13-14 Boys 200 freestyle and 400 IM. He also was second in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 butterfly. Pendleton was the fifth-fastest 14U swimmer in the Boys Open 1,000 freestyle, where he placed 12th overall.

Vivan Shah scored 35.5 points by placing fifth in the 9-10 Boys 50 backstroke and 200 freestyle, sixth in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle, seventh in the 100 butterfly, eighth in the 50 freestyle and 200 IM, ninth in the 50 butterfly and 10th in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke.

Chad Pendleton scored 24 points on his one day of 9-10 Boys competition, placing fifth in the 50 freestyle, sixth in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM, seventh in the 50 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.

Myra Jaryal finished with 20.5 points by placing in the top 10 in six of her ten 9-10 events. She was sixth in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly; seventh in the 200 IM and 10th in the 50 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Jaryal also was 11th in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke, 14th in the 50 backstroke and 22nd in the 50 freestyle.

Arjun Agarkar scored 19 points by placing fourth in the 11-12 Boys 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle, eighth in the 100 freestyle and 10th in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. He also was 11th in the 50 breaststroke, 13th in the 50 backstroke, 14th in the 100 breaststroke and 15th in the 100 backstroke.

Shreyan Kulkarni scored 18.5 points, placing 6th in the 11-12 Boys 50 freestyle, seventh in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM, eighth in the 50 breaststroke, ninth in the 500 freestyle and 10th in the 100 backstroke. He also placed 11th in the 50 backstroke and 100 freestyle, 12th in the 100 breaststroke and 14th in the 50 butterfly.

Xavier Zhang scored 10 points, finishing seventh in the 11-12 Boys 500 freestyle and ninth in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. He also was 11th in the 100 butterfly; 12th in the 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly; 14th in the 200 IM and 20th in the 100 breaststroke.

Max Tempest scored five points by placing seventh in the 9-10 Boys 200 freestyle and 10th in the 100 freestyle. He also was 11th in the 100 backstroke, 12th in the 100 butterfly, 14th in the 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke, 15th in the 50 butterfly, 16th in the 100 breaststroke and 17th in the 50 breaststroke.

Eva Rayomamd scored four points by placing eighth in the 9-10 Girls 100 butterfly and 10th in the 200 freestyle. She also was 12th in the 50 butterfly, 100 freestyle and 200 IM; 16th in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke and 19th in the 100 backstroke.

Arash Thokade also scored four points by placing ninth in the 9-10 Boys 50 backstroke and 10th in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Thokade also finished in 11th in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM, 15th in the 100 breaststroke, 17th in the 50 freestyle and 18th in the 50 breaststroke and 100 freestyle.

Chris Suo scored by placing 10th in the 11-12 Boys 50 freestyle. Suo also placed 15th in the 200 freestyle, 20th in the 50 backstroke and 100 freestyle, 21st in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, 23rd in the 200 IM, 24th in the 50 butterfly, 25th in the 50 breaststroke and 26th in the 100 breaststroke.
