Lienhoop: Vote for Loyd, Britt and Wheeldon

Bartholomew County voters: Whittney Loyd, Leigh Britt and Nicole Wheeldon are candidates for our Bartholomew Consolidated School board in the upcoming election. They deserve your support and your vote.

Down through the years I’ve learned that while all elections are important, some are more important than others. This election will set the tone for our public schools for the next four years, likely longer.

We have the opportunity to elect three qualified, capable individuals who have already distinguished themselves.

Whittney, Leigh and Nicole are lifelong contributors to our community through churches, human services organizations, school organizations, boards and more. They have been focused on public service their adult lives.

Each is an accomplished professional in her own right and collectively they bring the knowledge, experience and the good judgment that experience begets: financial acumen and budget prowess, board experience and governance, conflict management, executive judgment and a deep knowledge of education. They know how to delegate to the professionals who work with and for them.

Whittney, Leigh and Nicole also understand that while we need to seek excellence, we also need to live within our means.

Their demeanor is professional and measured in public and online. This comes from their broad experience. They know how to disagree without becoming disagreeable. They deal regularly in reconciling different viewpoints in a constructive manner.

This is the behavior we want our school board to model for our children, our community, and prospective future residents.

One more aspect of elections I’ve learned is that they are decided by those who vote. Please educate yourself (pun intended) about the current slate of candidates. I’m confident that when you do, you’ll find Whittney Loyd, Leigh Britt and Nicole Wheeldon warrant your support. Your vote counts.
