The 31st annual Ethnic Expo international festival opened downtown with songs by Mariachi Sol Jalicinese. The band originally intended to stroll through the festival as they played, but instead played under a tent at First and Washington streets due to rain.

1999

Kelly Garrison, member and captain of the 1988 U.S. Olympic team, spoke to students at Parkside Elementary School about remaining drug free. Garrison was a two-time NCAA all-around champion at the University of Oklahoma and a three-time national balance beam champion.

1974

The Columbus Treasure Hunters Club held its annual auction at the home of club member Mrs. Harold Voelz. Proceeds from the auction were used to purchase books about antiques, which were donated to the Bartholomew County Library and the Bartholomew County Historical Museum.
