COLUMBUS
Jayne Allender, 97, of Columbus IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Silver Oaks Heath Campus in Columbus. She was born on March 29, 1927, in Brown County, She was the daughter of Omer and Susie Quackenbush Allender.
Jayne is survived by six nieces and nephews, Genevieve (Bernard) Hatchett of Nashville, IN, Thelma Campbell of Nashville, IN, Phyllis Lucas also of Nashville, Stephen Alender of Indianapolis,IN, Kenneth (Judy) Heiner of Cincinnati, OH, and Kurt Heiner of Chandler, AZ. She also had numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, by four sisters (Dorothy, Flora, Lucille, and Arressia) and four brothers (Pat, Orno, Dale, and Paul) as well as by three nephews, a niece and two great-nephews.
Jayne moved from Nashville to Columbus following her high school graduation and went to work for Cummins Engine. She worked there in various secretarial positions including as the executive secretary for the president of Cummins until her retirement. She was a member of Garden Center Church of Christ in Columbus and was well known and cared for in her community.
There will be a private family memorial service and burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville at a later date.
