COLUMBUS
Don R Grider, age 81, of Columbus In, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2024.
Born on June 21, 1943, in Columbus In, Don was a kind-hearted and gentle soul. He was the beloved son of Paul W. Grider and Anna M. Lee Grider.
He married Sharon Townsend on November 10, 1962, in Columbus and they had five children:
Lori Ann Grider, Debbie Morgan, Leanne Reese (Clyde Thompson Sr), Robert Grider, and Patricia Melton. He also had nine grandchildren: Michelle Tidwell, Steve Tidwell, Joseph Morgan, Jeremy Morgan, Brandon Grider, Courtney Grider, Whitney Garcia Martinez, Joshua Niccum and Cody Melton, as well as several great-grandchildren.
Don worked for Cummins Engine Company for 33 years and owned several businesses. He was involved in many children’s charities and organizations, caring deeply for the less fortunate.
He donated and volunteered every chance he had. Don had many hobbies, including owning and showing antique show cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul Jr, his daughter Lori Ann and his son Robert Grider.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St Jude.
The family of Don wishes to thank the many wonderful nurses and staff at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana for making his last few months of life tolerable.
A private memorial service is planned.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
