Jane A. Sims

Jane A. Sims, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 11:33 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital at the age of 78.

Jane was born in Columbus, December 6, 1945, the loving daughter of Robert L. and Constance E. Greenlee Brown. She was the wife of her high school sweetheart, Roger A. Sims, to whom she was faithfully married to for nearly 26 years from August 1968, until his death June 25, 1994.

Jane graduated from Columbus High School in 1963. Jane was the office manager for Prudential Insurance retiring after many years of service. After retirement, Jane enjoyed being a travel agent for Conway Tours and a volunteer at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church most of her life and she was a member of Harrison Lake Garden Club. Jane was also a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and she enjoyed participating in various Bridge and Euchre clubs. Some of Jane’s most pleasurable times were when she entertained her family and friends at Harrison Lake and decades of family trips to Holden Beach, NC.

Jane will be remembered by her children, Libby (Matt) Pedigo of Indianapolis and Todd (Kelly) Sims of Columbus; grandchildren, Riley and Carsen Sims and Nora Pedigo; brothers, Robert (Sharon) Brown of Columbus and Greg (Debbie) Brown of Foley, Alabama; sister-in-law, Barbara (Dexter) Fravel of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brother, Randy Brown; and her nephew, Adam Brown.

The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Greg Brown, Jane’s brother, will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Jane will be laid to rest next to her husband in Section 80 at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
