New officer joins Columbus Police Department

Cox

Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon swore in Columbus Police Department’s newest officer this week.

Haley Cox, (CPD 304) is from Shelbyville.

After graduating high school, she obtained an associate’s degree in business administration. Cox worked as a field officer for Shelby County Community Corrections for two years before becoming an excise police officer for the Indiana Excise Police.

Since Cox has already attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, she will undergo a couple weeks of training with CPD instructors before starting the field training program to work toward being a solo patrol officer, CPD officials said.
