SOUTH BEND
Patricia M. (Patty) Wallace May of South Bend (formerly of Hope, IN), beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, 2024, at the age of 88.
Patty was a 1954 graduate of Clifford High School. She obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Indiana University at South Bend and taught second grade at Concord East Side School in Elkhart, Indiana, for 27 years.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Paul K and Florence (Trinkle) Wallace; her brothers, Dale Wallace and Paul W. Wallace; and her daughter, Susan K. Mann.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Delbert F. May; brother, Stanley (Arline) Wallace; daughters, Joyce (Jim) Chicoine, Cheryl (Mark) Oliver, Julie (Paul) Feyka; son-in-law, James Mann; sons, Delbert P. May, Greg May, Doug May, Bradley May, and Tom (Becky) May; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Patty in the spring of 2025. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
